Aerotowing Hang Gliders - An Introduction
The development of aerotowing hang gliders has opened up a whole word of opportunity for beginners, experienced pilots and groups of people who previously had no realistic access to this amazing sport. Hang gliders were the original free flyers, developed by NASA scientists in the '70s and they are still capturing people`s imagination today.
Over the last few years Airways Airsports have helped pioneer new methods of teaching hang gliding through aerotowing, and because of our involvement Airways now boast probably the most experienced group of instructors around.
With full time instructors (including a two times world champion) a host of specialist equipment and two dedicated airparks in the UK and France, we can teach beginners, those that have become frustrated leaning to fly from hills and who want to get qualified, and even people with a range of disabilities to aerotow efficiently and with the minimum of frustration.
Its fair to say that this method of teaching has revoloutionised the way people are learning to fly as it removes many of the traditional barriers to learning. No need to carry heavy gliders up the hill, no need to travel all over the place chasing the wind, looking for the best spot to fly from and less need to wait for 'perfect' conditions.
At Airways Airsports, when it's flyable, you just turn up, strap in and fly away. It really is as easy as that.
