Hang gliding Courses and Costs
Courses start at £199 – Learn to Hang Glide from £1,464
1) Tandem Flight £199 The flight of a lifetime and by far our most popular 'experience' flight. You will lie. in a harness, alongside one of our very experienced instructors, in a tandem hang glider, and be towed aloft by a microlight tug up to 3,000 feet above the airfield. Your instructor will then release the tow line, then you can either fly the hang glider yourself or simply enjoy the view.
2) CPC (winch) ('Best Deal' tuition from £1,464)*
The Club Pilot Certificate course starts with tandem flights, learning on a one-to-one basis with one of our very experienced instructors. So your first flight will be up to 3,000ft on day one!
Once you have completed the 13 tandem flights, you will have a good grasp of flying a hang glider, and will have experience of setting up landing approaches. You will then move on to the winch to do your first low-level solo flights, progressing onto high flight and circuits.
Hang gliding "Best Deal" is the cheapest way to learn and gets you the kit you'll need to train. You pay £4995 which gets you a brand new state-of-the-art Wills Wing Falcon 3 glider, made to measure Woody Valley Flex lite Harness, Icaro Fly helmet and your traiining up to Club Pilot Level saving you almost £300.
3) Hill conversion (from £299) Once you have your CPC (winch) qualification you can easily gain your hill rating by undertaking a short (from 2 days) conversion course.
4) Power conversion course (from £299-£599)* Once you have your CPC (winch) and/or (hill) your power rating is a straightforward step. The short conversion course is half price (£299) if you purchase your equipment from us or if you have learned to fly with us.
5) Winch conversion (£189) An extra rating for established hang glider pilots. This course generally takes 2 days and the price includes 10 tows which is all you usually need to get the qualification. You can stay on for additional tows from £3 each.
9) Aerotow conversion (from £349) A two day course for existing hang glider pilots who already hold their Pilot rating. The price includes your first flight, which is a tandem with one of our instructors, plus seven solo flights (minimum number of flights for BHPA qualification is 8 aerotows). Any additional aerotows needed to attain the rating are charged at our normal aerotow price.
10) By the day or by the flight If you have started learning at another school and are part way through a course, or have had a long lay-off from flying and want a "refresher", or are partially qualified in some other way, it may be better to pay by the flight.
Each tandem aerotow instruction flight costs £120. The day rate for hang gliding on the winch is £149. Whatever your needs and whatever stage you are at, please call the office on 01335 344 308 and talk to one of our experienced instructors who will discuss your individual requirements with you.
