Hang gliding Courses and Costs
Courses start at £199 – Learn to Hang Glide from £1,499
1) Tandem Flight £199 The flight of a lifetime and by far our most popular 'experience' flight. This is also the basis of our HG day taster. You will lie alongside one of our instructors in a tandem hang glider and be towed aloft by a microlight tug. Once released by the tug you can either fly the glider yourself or simply enjoy the view.
2) CPC (Aerotow) ('Best Deal' tuition from £1,499)* The latest way to learn how to fly a hang glider. Complete your training with 100% one-on-one tandem tuition using our state or the art equipment. Best Deal work like this... You pay £2,999 and we take £1,499 (a saving of nearly £500 on our pay as you go rate) for a tuition package that includes; 13 tandem aerotows, two days on the winch (to learn how to take off and land using your feet) then 5 solo aerotows. If you need more than 13 tandems (the minimum required by our syllabus) these will be charged at £120 per flight. The £1,500 balance of your best deal can be put towards equipment like helmets, harnesses or even a glider. Best deal means that you learn to fly using the most up to date methods available and you save up to £500 in the process!
3) Hill conversion (from £299) Once you have your CPC (Aerotow) qualification you can easily gain your hill rating by undertaking a short conversion course. Combining this conversion with the CPC (Aerotow) is by far the best value way of getting in the air in a Hang Glider.
4) Power conversion course (from £299-£599)* Once you have your CPC (Aerotow) and or (Hill) your power rating is a straightforward step. The short conversion course is half price (£299) if you purchase your equipment from us or if you have taken our CPC (Aerotow)
5) Winch conversion (£189) An extra rating for established HG pilots. This quick course gives includes 10 tows which is all you usually need to get the qualification. You can stay on for additional tows from £3 each.
9) Aerotow conversion (from £349) A two day course for existing HG pilots who already hold their Pilot rating. The price includes your first flight, which is a tandem with one of our instructors, plus seven solo flights (minimum number of flights for BHPA qualification is 8 aerotows). Any additional aerotows needed to attain the rating are charged at our normal aerotow price.
10) By the day or by the flight If you have started learning at annother school or are partially qualified in some other way it may be better to pay by the flight. Each tandem aerotow instruction flight costs £120. The day rate for HG on the winch is £199. 11) Solo Aerotow Once you are qualified solo aerotows are just £15 - takeoff up to to 1000' QFE, then £4 for each additional 500' after that. You can even store your glider at the airpark in our secure hanger for £5 PCM.
