Paragliding Conversions

Conversion courses take pilots with a Paragliding Winch, Hill or Power rating and quickly convert them to one or all of the other disciplines. There are also courses designed for hang glider pilots to swiftly convert to paragliding.

Paragliding Hill Conversion (£299)

For paraglider pilots with a winch or paramotor rating. Typically paragliding students who have learnt on the winch or who are flying paramotors will take this simple two-day conversion. The course covers all aspects of flying paragliders on the hills; hill takeoffs, flying with others, ridge soaring, the effect of wind and weather on the hills and all other aspects of paragliding that are specific to the hill environment. The paragliding winch course combined with a paraglider hill conversion has proven to be the most efficient route to gaining all the ratings you need to fly a paraglider.

Power (paramotor) conversion (from £299)

For pilots with a paragliding winch or hill rating. This is a very popular conversion as it opens the door to total pilot autonomy - once you are qualified to fly a paramotor, all you need is an open flat space to get you airborne. The two-day paramotor conversion introduces techniques for using portable power units (paramotors) with your paraglider. It's like having your own personal hill in the boot of your car. For more information please look at the
Paramotor section.

Winch conversion (from £189)

For pilots with a paragliding hill or paramotor rating, and this is also a great way for hang glider pilots to convert to paragliding. This is a great way to get back in the air after a break from paragliding and a popular method for people who have become disillusioned with learning on the hill and simply want to fly. We also get lots of current paragliding hill pilots who simply want the conversion so they can get in the air on days when it's not so good on the hill.

If you are already paragliding CPC (hill or Power) rated, and fairly current, then the paragliding winch conversion course involves a minimum of 10 tows over two days and includes all the ground based tuition you need.

If you are hang gliding CPC (hill, power or aerotow) rated, and fairly current, then we can usually complete your paragliding conversion using the winch in just a few days. Then using your hang gliding experience the conversion to paragliding hill qualification is a further straightforward step.
