Whether you are from Derbyshire, The Peak District, the Midlands or elsewhere in the UK, in order to learn to Hang glide, learn to Paraglide, learn to Paramotor or learn to fly Microlight aircraft you need the best tools and facilities at your disposal.
Airways Airsports offers the most comprehensive range of equipment and facilities of any free flying school and microlight school in the UK.
The Airpark
Our 80 acre air park allows space for simultaneous Hang gliding tuition, Paragliding tuition, Microlight tuition and air experience flights. It takes all wind directions and is conveniently situated in Derbyshire near Ashbourne Gateway to the Derbyshire Peak District - the middle of the country.
Disabled
We offer the widest range of disabled free flight facilities of any school in the UK. Use our specially modified equipment and learn to fly Hang gliders, leran to fly Paragliders or learn to fly Microlight aircraft.
Lecture rooms
If the weather turns bad in the middle of your learn to fly day you can retreat to our lecture room for theory sessions on all aspects of flying.
Flying shop
Our fully stocked flying shop has everything you will need to get in the air. Try before you buy, get impartial advice and compare equipment to ensure you get exactly what you want.
Club-room and toilets
Our club-room is unique within the the world of free flight schools with comfortable seating and refreshments available throughout the day.
Bring the family, if you like, and they can watch you fly from the viewing deck. Finally don’t underestimate the value of having toilets and showers on site!
Equipment
Wings, harnesses, motors, winches. If it will help get you safely in the air we’ll get it out and use it. Apart from flying equipment to help you get off the ground we also have kites, buggys, boards and land yachts to keep you occupied on windy days.
Airclub
Once you complete your course we don’t abandon you. All our students automatically become members of the Airways Airsports Airclub.
The Airclub aims to offer you continuous development through a programme of lectures and progressive teaching courses. It will also introduce you to the local flying clubs, the Peak club and the DSC for pilots wishing to fly the hills.
Foreign Flying
Apart from our sister airpark and training facility in the South of Spain we offer regular trips abroad for XC, SIV and progressive training.
