Fab Feb Flying
February has been and gone so quickly; well they say time flies when you’re having fun. We have been flying and having some seriously good fun. Starting with ‘The Snow’ and ‘A Winter Wonderland’ to ‘The Fruits of our Labour’, there has been a stream of EPCs, CPCs, GSTs and FLPAs. How many more abbreviations can you fit in to one month? And it did not end there either............
To end the month‘s flying on paragliders it was a final couple of flights on Tuesday for Andy Beere and Mike (Boy Band) Hoole. Both completed a 38km triangle cross country flight on their Fly Product Kompresses. I then completed their paper work and signed them off as unrestricted powered paraglider pilots. Well done chaps.
The smiles in the picture say it all. We also saw Simon back after a lay off of 12 months because of work and family commitments - really good to see you. Saturday gave us perfect conditions, once again, for teaching paragliding and the most was made out of the day with Chris Withers
and Chris Gomez
completing their EPC and even making in-roads in to their CPC. Andrew Robertson
is another who is only one task away from his CPC completion after a fourteen-flight epic day for him. We also had David Sewell
for a paragliding day taster. He had four great straight and level flights then a tandem flight with me over Darley Moor to complete not only a brill day but an all-round Fab Feb flying on paragliders.
Back teaching for the first time this year was Chaz on our Aeros C42 fixed wing. Chaz had Barry Micklethwaite, a student who has done a lot of flying with Airways first paragliding then powered paragliding and now microlighting. Funny how when you get into flying you just want to be able to use all the toys in the cupboard! And why not? – I try to! Chaz also had a newcomer Father Michael Stappard, who after a trial flight just a week ago, booked for his first 5 hours training with us. Welcome to Darley Moor - hope you have a great time learning to fly.
So February has come and gone. In my memory it has been the best I have seen with three days flying per week. The figures speak for themselves… eight EPC awarded, three CPCs awarded, two FLPAs and two PPL microlight licences.
There has been a host of new faces coming to learn and many returning to either keep their hand in or coming back after a lay off, wanting to get that early start on the season to make the best out of what I still believe will be a great summer of flying.
What will March hold? Well by the look of the weather report, we will be flying tomorrow.!!!!!
Andy
