Attention One and All
Here at Airways Airsports we know that we can produce good, forward thinking pilots. At the end of their training, they can leave our gates and embark on a fun and safe flying career with the solid foundation we have given them in their chosen sport. What we would like to know is how we can help you build on that, and that’s why we need your input.
There is nothing better than doing something for the first time, or qualifying for something. The feeling is great, and that is what we, at Airways Airsports, get a lot of pleasure from - seeing you becoming pilots and achieving your dream of learning to fly. But we know that for you it is only the beginning because, believe it or not, we were there once too - kit in one hand, ticket in the other, and the confidence in yourself as a pilot to get out and do it. For me that meant spending two to three years turning into thermals the wrong way because I had misread the signs, falling out the side, getting beaten up, landing, packing up and going to the pub thinking of what could have been. GREAT.
That was until my learned friends Judy and Chris watched me doing that in Spain, gave me a ten minute lecture on thermalling and how to centre in one, did not let me pack up or go to the pub until Chris had towed me back into the air and waved me off in a thermal. At which point I buggered off to cloud base. Then I landed and went to the pub.
So how can you help us? Over the coming months we would like to host a number of evening lectures, which is great as long has we tell you about something you would like to know more about, and that you think will help you develop has a pilot. This is open to everyone; we would like replies from all the flying disciplines we teach and from pilot rated to people on their second day of training. In fact, even if you are thinking of starting, please get in touch.
Please send any ideas to me by e-mail at asairways@gmail.com then watch the Captains Log for details of lectures.
Regards
Andy
