Just What the Doctor Ordered

March has been a wonderful month for flying. With a large high pressure system sitting over us mid-March it gave some fabulous teaching conditions. For all the instructors at the airpark, it was just what the doctor ordered.

This month has really set us up for the season…… i.e.calm at the start, with not just the odd day of training, but straight weeks. The high pressure was taken advantage of by all who came to learn, with hundreds of winch launches throughout the month, and over 60 hours of microlight training plus close to 30 hours of paramotoring taking place.

We all could not have done any more to capitalize on the conditions. I would like to say on behalf of all at Airways, “well done" to all those who came along to learn.

I know that April will be a cracker, as we have been busy planning over the winter to ensure as much flying as possible takes place this Spring. Airways-Airsports France is about to start its first of many courses being run over the coming months. To start, CFI Chris Dawes and the French team are running an EPC / CPC / hill-conversion course around the Hautes Alpes.

Matt Kershaw & I are off to Norfolk to run a ten day CPC winch paragliding course with the Norfolk winch club. We did the same last year and managed to qualify nine pilots as CPC in ten days, and will be looking for even greater success this year.

Darley Moor Airpark here in Derbyshire will still be open, with Judy at the helm for hang gliding and paragliding. We will also still have flex and 3-axis microlight instruction.

So we’ve been busy in March, and we now look forward to what I know will be a fabulous April. There is high pressure moving in from tomorrow with some flyable conditions forecast for the next few days. I will keep you posted to how the month develops.

Andy
